APAPA California Capitol Summer Internship Program
Background
Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Community Education Fund
is awarding 15 internships
for Asian Pacific American college and college bound students. The purpose
of the internship is to help students better understand California state
and local government and to develop future leaders in the API community.
Each intern must spend a minimum of 15 hours a week during the summer
of 2007, working for a state legislator or constitutional officer in Sacramento,
California.
APAPA's goals and objectives includes the following:
- Support local, state and national leaders
who support APAPA's Mission. Eliminate discrimination against Asian
Pacific Islander Americans. Educate Asian Pacific Islander Americans
and the general public.
- Educate, train and provide internships
for APIA youth to become future leaders.
Upon completion of the internship, all
interns who desire to serve the public and develop their leadership skills
are encouraged to become an APAPA member. As a member, you can work closely
with elected legislators and officials and participate in the planning
of APAPA'a annual signature events. You will have opportunities to further
develop your teamwork and leadership skills.
Internship Terms and Conditions:
APAPA-CEF will arrange for a minimum six-week long internship in
Sacramento for each selected intern with a government official and/or
agency through our placement process.
Students must pay for their own travel, housing, and living expenses
during their summer internships.
The applicants grant APAPA-CEF and their sponsors the right to use their
information and their likeness for the purpose of promoting and publicizing
this Internship Program.
