CAPA Ed Fund Research Project

The CAPA Community Education Fund Research Project is designed for a recent college graduate or a college senior who is interested in pursuing a career in public affairs. The Research Project will run from for three to five months starting in September of 2011. A stipend of $2000-$2500 will be provided (depending on duration of the project).

Project Description:

  • Research the current involvement in public affairs of the San Francisco Bay Area Asian American community and develop strategies and actionable plans for Asian American community organizations:
    • Assess strengths and weaknesses.
    • Interview public officials, members of the academic community and community leaders.
    • Compile and analyze supporting data, analysis and /or survey results.
  • Present a written research report to CAPA Community Education Fund, and give an oral presentation at a CAPA Community Ed Fund sponsored event
  • Review research direction and progress with CAPA Fellowship Committee regularly

Who Should Apply:
Asian American recent college graduates and college seniors with a demonstrated interest in encouraging civic participation within the Asian American community who plan to pursue a career in public affairs and reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The mission of the CAPA Community Education Fund is to strengthen and empower the Chinese and Asian American communities by promoting leadership, civic engagement, and cultural diversity and understanding. Since 1990, the CAPA Community Education Fund Internship Program has placed nearly 300 high school students and college students into the offices of elected officials, providing them with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the political process as well as a solid understanding of the importance of Asian American civic participation.
