Introducing our new board members
With some of our board members at the end of their term, CEF Chair Cedric
Cheng has brought in some fresh new members ready to pitch in some new
ideas! Our new board members include:
Ken
Chew graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with
a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1986, and he is a Registered
Civil Engineer (P.E.) and a Certified Project Management Professional
(PMP). Ken and his family have lived in Moraga since 2001. In Moraga,
Ken was appointed to the Moraga Planning Commission in February 2003,
then reappointed to serve two more terms in February 2004 and February
2006 until he was elected to the Moraga Town Council in November 2006.
Ken currently manages the Project Management and Control Unit at the California
Department of Transportation in Oakland.
Matthew
Del Carlo is the District Director for Assemblyman Guy Houston.
He served as Campaign Manager for Assemblyman Houston in 2006 and successfully
managed Contra Costa County Supervisor Mary Piepho’s campaign beating
the incumbent by a 17-point margin in 2004. Matthew started his political
career working as the Grassroots Coordinator for Assemblyman Houston and
Congressman Richard Pombo in 2002. Matthew is a third generation San Franciscan.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of
California, Davis and was selected for the University of California’s
Washington, DC Honors Program. Matthew has been involved in a variety
of community service projects from the time he joined the Boy Scouts,
where he earned his Eagle Scout Award, and continues to this day. In 2006,
the East Bay Business Times selected Matthew as one of the “40 Under
40”; recognizing forty individuals under the age of forty for their
leadership, business and personal achievement in the community.
Doreen
J. Lew was born and raised in San Francisco, is married, and
has 2 daughters. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management, Master of
Science in Management of Technology, Graduate Certificate in Telecommunications,
and is a Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA). She retired from SBC
Services, Inc. and then independent contracted with CAPA Community Education
Fund as our Program Coordinator. She currently serves on the Board of
Directors and is the Membership Officer for Asian Pacific Islanders for
Professional and Community Advancement (APCA), formerly known as Asians
for Corporate and Community Action (ACCA). She accepted the invitation
to join the Executive Board of CAPA Community Education Fund as this organization
supports the advancement of Asian Americans, gets our youth involved,
and gives Asian Americans a voice.
Zhan
Li is a Professor of Marketing at University of San Francisco,
a Visiting Professor at Haas School of Business, UC-Berkeley, and an Adjunct
Professor at Peking University of China. He served on the Campaign Committee
for Ken Chew, who has just been elected to the Town Council of Moraga.
Zhan Li is also Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Asia Business Studies.
He has consulted for multinational corporations (e.g., Baxter, Lenovo,
NTT of Japan), mid- and small-sized companies, startups, nonprofit organizations,
and government agencies. His articles has been published in leading academic
journals and practical publications, and collected by Harvard Business
School Publishing. Dr. Li has been invited numerous times to appear on
TV and Radio programs and interviewed by TVs, magazines, newspapers, and
websites for various contemporary business issues. He holds MBA and DBA
(Doctor of Business Administration) degrees from Boston University.
Evelyn Lin has recently completed studies to be a consultant
assisting clients in areas of personal goals, leadership training and
advising on life’s choices and relationships. Prior to becoming
a consultant or life coach, she was a realtor with Prudential and is active
with community organizations such as CAPA and DVCCA as well as an active
member in her church. She is married to current CAPA and CAPA Community
Education Fund boardmember Stephen Lin and both reside in Lafayette with
their two young children. Her interest in public affairs stem from an
eagerness to contribute to the well-being of community as well as being
active as an Asian American woman in the public affairs arena.
