February 2007
Election Forum 2006

CAPA Community Education Fund held its annual Election Forum at the Civic Park Community Center’s Assembly Hall in Walnut Creek. The event, sponsored by PG&E, brought together many local candidates who took part in lively discussions.

The program included: Darcy Linn for the U.S. House of Representatives, District 10; Assemblyman Guy Houston (R) and Terry Coleman (D) for State Assembly, District 15; Arne Simonsen (R) and Supervisor Mark DeSaulnier (D) for State Assembly, District 11; and Jill Buck for State Assembly, District 18. Jake Bronson, Sol Henik, Sue Rainey, and Cindy Silva vied for the two seats available in the most local race - Walnut Creek City Council. Topics included issues such as Proposition 90 on whether voters should pass the property rights initiative in the November election.

Following the packed program was a sushi dinner where voters of the community were able to discuss the afternoon’s debates amongst each other. Some candidates stuck around to meet their potential constituents and hope to gain ground in their campaign.
