Doris Matsui Seek to Succeed Husband

Robert Matsui recently died. His widow, Doris Matsui, was part of President Clinton’s transition team and worked as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Directory of Public Liaison for the White House. She is currently the Senior Advisor and Director of Governmental Relations and Public Policy in the Washington, DC, law firm of Collier, Shannon, Rill and Scott. Mrs. Matsui and running to fill the position vacated by the unfortunate early demise of the Congressman. She is not without competition, and this may prove to be a very costly race. Your CAPA board has voted to take a position supporting her candidacy.

The early primary is on March 8. A fundraiser co-sponsored by the Asian Pacific Islander American Political Association is being held on Thursday, February 17, 6-8:00PM at the Sterling Hotel in Sacramento. If you are interested in attending or willing to contribute to her race, please let a board member know or visit our website for more information. Or visit http://www.matsuiforcongress.com/about.
