Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Laura Masunaga the Siskiyou County Superior Court

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of Laura J. Masunaga to a judgeship in the Siskiyou County Superior Court. Masunaga, 57, of Mt. Shasta, has practiced law in Siskiyou County for 23 years, most recently serving as commissioner for the Siskiyou County Superior Court. She has had her own private law firm since 1982 and while in private practice was a certified family law specialist. Her experience also includes four years as a deputy public defender for Siskiyou County from 1984 to 1989. Masunaga earned her Juris Doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University. She is a member of the California Judges Association and the California Court Commissioners Association. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Chris Stromsness. Masunaga is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $139,784.
